Artistic Director Amy Kotsonis 

Amy Kotsonis joined the Metropolitan Chorale as Artistic Director in January 2015, and is thrilled to be working with this outstanding ensemble of singers. Dr. Kotsonis is also an Assistant Professor of Choral Ensembles and Music Education at the University of Northern Iowa, where she conducts the UNI Singers and Women's Chorus and teaches choral conducting and choral methods. Prior to graduate school at Florida State University, she served as Assistant Conductor, Director of Workshops, and Satellite School Teacher for the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC). Dr. Kotsonis directed the Intermezzo chorus, served as vocal coach for all divisions, and prepared YPC choruses for radio and television appearances, recording sessions, tours, and performances throughout New York City’s concert halls and abroad.

An active clinician, she has directed choral workshops and conducted festivals throughout New England, New York City and Florida. Dr. Kotsonis is an active member of state and national organizations and has presented at state, national and international conferences. She was the Artistic Director of Soho Voce and Assistant Conductor of the Soharmoniums, two choral ensembles based in New York City. Dr. Kotsonis has previously taught in public schools in New York City and Boston, and serves as conductor and instructor at the Summer Youth Music School at the University of New Hampshire. She is also an active church musician, having served in a variety of churches in Maine, New Hampshire and Florida.

Dr. Kotsonis completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education at Florida State University. She is also a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Music History, and New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education.

Accompanist Nathaniel Parrish 

A native of Cedar Falls, Nathaniel Parrish has considerable accompanying experience as a pianist and organist.  In 2004, Nathaniel received his Bachelor of Arts in Organ Performance from the University of Northern Iowa, where he accompanied vocalists and instrumentalists alike, as well as the UNI Singers.  Additionally, Nathaniel has worked in music ministry, serving Noroton Presbyterian Church (Darien, CT) and Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church (Cedar Falls, IA).  Currently, Nathaniel works at Nazareth Lutheran Church (Cedar Falls, IA) as the Director of Music and he also teaches private piano lessons.  This year marks Nathaniel's second year accompanying the Metropolitan Chorale.  Nathaniel resides in Waterloo with his spouse, Ali, and three stepdaughters: Caitlin, Ireland, and Felicity.
